Correcting spelling, grammar, capitalization, and punctuation. Changing words to ensure consistency in tense and format. When appropriate, correcting format to match specific submission guidelines.

:: Copy-editing

Copy-editing is stylistic and organizational editing at the sentence level. This involves a moderate level of rewriting to improve the clarity of sentences. Proofreading is included in copy-editing.

:: Content-editing

Content-editing is stylistic and organizational editing at the document level. This can involve substantial amounts of rewriting and reorganization to improve clarity. Content-editing yields documents that convincingly and efficiently present information to a target audience. Copy-editing and proofreading are included in content-editing.

:: English to French translation

Documents written in the source language (English) are translated in the target language (French). Translation services include content-editing so that the information is presented in a clear and efficient way in the target language. Please note that although I do translate documents into international French, I can adapt most of my translations to the French-Canadian market. I can also edit documents written in French-Canadian.

The price for proofreading, copy-editing and content-editing varies with the complexity of the document, the level of service provided and the turnaround time requested.

Turnaround:
Standard translation service is completed within 48 hours per 2,000 words. Express translation service is completed within 24 hours per 2,000 words.

Standard proofreading and copy-editing services are completed within 48 hours per 3,000 words. Express proofreading and copy-editing service is completed within 24 hours per 3,000 words.
Standard content-editing services are completed within 48 hours per 1,500 words. Express content-editing services are completed within 24 hours per 1,500 words. The turnaround time applies to electronically transferred documents only. If you need another turnaround just contact me and I will try to meet your needs!

Please submit your text for a free evaluation. I will review your document and return a price quotation within one business day. This is a fast procedure and it involves no obligation. Please contact me if you have any questions.

:: HOW I WORK ::

1. Fill out and submit the quote request form and send me a complete copy or sample pages of your document. You can send your document by e-mail (as an attachment) or by regular mail. We accept files in various formats. If you send me a translated document for proofreading or editing, please also send me the original text in English. The original document serves as a reference and allows me to proofread and/or edit the translated document as accurately as possible. This is especially important if the document is highly technical. TRUST ME!

2. I review your text and return a price quotation and a contract by the end of the next business day. The quotation is free and indicates exactly how much the service will cost. There is no further obligation to use my services.

3. If you choose to use my services, I will begin to work on your document immediately after I receive the signed contract. Some work might require an advanced payment.

4. I proofread, edit or translate your document and return the completed text along with an invoice within the expected due date (as outlined on our contract). While working on your document, I may ask you questions to help clarify specific points in your work.

5. Your payment is due within 30 days of receipt of the completed work. I accept cheques drawn on Canadian funds and money orders. I also accept wire transfers and cheques drawn on other currencies with a nominal processing fee.

I do have a minimum charge of 1 hour (editing services) or CAD $45.00 (translation services). I require a prepayment of 25% of the total amount for all quotations over CAD $1,000.
